Unazuki Onsen, the largest hot spring in Toyama Prefecture is located at the entrance of Kurobe Gorge and has been loved by many local writers and artists since it was opened in 1923. The onsen draws water from the Kuronagi Onsen upstream of the Kurobe River. The colorless and transparent water said to be the clearest in Japan, is a simple hot spring with weak alkaline that is gentle to the skin, and is known as the hot water for beautiful skin. From the lodges lining the Kurobe River, you can see the mountains of the canyon with its seasonal expressions, making the hot spring baths in Unazuki which is surrounded by nature really special.

The Kurobe Gorge Torokko Electric Railway, which winds through Japan's deepest V-shaped gorge from Unazuki to Keyakidaira, was originally created as a railroad to transport construction materials for a dam for power development. The train runs slowly for about 1 hour and 20 minutes each way, passing through 41 tunnels and 21 bridges along its 20.1km length. Sarutobi Gorge located approximately 30 minutes walk from Keyakidaira is designated as both a special place of scenic beauty and a special natural monument. The contrast of nature and mountain streams is truly spectacular.
