The water of Unazuki Onsen is said to be one of the best in Japan. The colourless and transparent water makes the surrounding scenery illusionary and reflects the echoes of nature.

400 years old Japanese cypress open-air bath Hana no Yu

The aromatic and lustrous 400 year old cypress bath was created by the hands of master craftsmen and shrine carpenters. The gorge seen through the frame of the Japanese cypress and the view reflected on the water in the bathtub are designed to be the most beautiful, and the use of Japanese cypress to express the beauty of the straight lines is also a technique of the master craftsmen. The beautiful autumn colours in particular is such a picturesque sight.

Rock open-air bath Kotone no Yu

This rock open-air bath was inspired by the flow of the Kurobe River. It is made of green stone which is gentle to the skin. Prepare to be healed by the hot spring water together with the fantastic scenery reflected on the water surface. Enjoying the rock open-air bath in winter with its clear air and snowy landscape is also highly recommended.

  • The Hana no Yu and Kotone no Yu baths are separate from the main baths and are open-air baths which are switched between men and women.
